Mirror Cave or Gua Batu Cermin

This dark, fascinating limestone cave sits inside a massive canyon complex. It is located roughly 21 km from Melo Village (back toward town). The name means “Mirror Rock” because when the sun hits the perfect angle around midday, light shines through holes in the roof and makes the rock walls glisten brightly.

As you walk through the narrow tunnels, you will see authentic prehistoric fish and coral fossils embedded directly into the walls from millions of years ago.

Rangko Cave or Gua Rangko

This is an incredible secret sea cave located on a secluded peninsula. The driving distance from Mirror Cave to the harbor in Rangko Village is about 11 km (a 20-minute drive). From the village, you step onto a private traditional wooden boat for a scenic 15-minute cruise to the cave beach. Inside, you will find a stunning natural pool filled with crystal-clear, salty blue ocean water. The sun rays illuminate the water, making it perfect for a refreshing swim.

08:00 AM – Hotel Pick-up: Your private AC car and professional local guide will pick you up directly from your hotel lobby in Labuan Bajo.
08:45 AM – Explore Melo Village (Distance: ~20 km from town): Arrive at the mountain village. Enjoy a traditional welcome drink, explore the village grounds, take photos of the valley, and watch the thrilling Caci dance performance.
11:00 AM – Walk Through Mirror Cave (Distance: ~21 km from Melo Village): Drive down from the hills to the Batu Cermin site. Put on your safety helmet and follow your guide into the cave tunnels to view the sparkling walls and ancient fossils.
12:45 PM – Local Lunch Break (Distance: ~4 km back to central town): Relax at a nearby restaurant and enjoy a delicious, freshly prepared local lunch box with refreshing mineral water.

I had a private lesson first and enjoyed it so much that I came back the next day with my 13-year-old son. Wayan arranged everything quickly and made the whole experience easy from start to finish. A big thanks to our instructors , for their patience, encouragement, and ability to adapt the lesson to our different levels. They created a relaxed atmosphere where we both felt safe and had a lot of fun. My son stood up on the board much sooner than he expected, and seeing his smile made the experience even more special. The equipment was in good condition, communication was excellent, and the beach in Senggigi was a great place for beginners to build confidence without feeling overwhelmed. We did 5 days with 3 kids aged 10 to 4 and we all had the best time of our life! Instructors are keeping it fun and safe and we were able to make some good progress:) Jacka, Abu, Bull and the whole team is just the best ! Patient, and fun and excellent teachers. My instructor Wawan was fantastic — patient, knowledgeable, and super friendly. He picked me up from the ferry port and even helped organize all my transportation during my stay. I stayed in a clean, comfortable room right next to the school with fast Wi-Fi and breakfast included at a small dining area just steps away — everything was easy and convenient. I also had access to a scooter, which made exploring the area simple. The surfing itself was phenomenal — great weather, fun waves, and stunning scenery. It was a 1:1 experience since I was the only student at the time, so I got plenty of personal attention and fast progress. There was even a surf photographer who joined us, which made for awesome memories to take home.
