Melo Traditional Village & The Sacred Caci Dance

A visit to the traditional village of Melo is a captivating experience on its own, but it becomes truly unforgettable when witnessing the legendary Caci dance. Because the performance involves a large, coordinated troupe of local artists, arrangements must be secured at least five days in advance.

Staging this cultural ritual is a deeply respected tradition; before the performance begins, village elders lead essential preparatory customs. Guests are welcomed with an authentic greeting address and traditional ceremonies. Only after these vital cultural formalities are completed can the exhilarating Caci dance be performed for your enjoyment.

We drop anchor at Wae Lolos Village, where a friendly local guide will welcome you. From here, we begin a light-to-medium trek through the shade of the forest. Along the way, your guide will point out native plants, coffee trees, and local flora. The walk takes roughly 30 to 45 minutes of gentle hiking before the sound of rushing water echoes through the trees.

Arrive at the spectacular Cunca Plias Waterfall! Unlike single-drop falls, Cunca Plias features gorgeous limestone tiers that form vibrant, emerald-green natural swimming pools. Take your time to dive into the cool mountain waters, relax on the sun-warmed rocks, or snap incredible photos from the natural infinity edge overlooking the valley.

Dry off and enjoy a delicious local lunch box packed fresh for your trip, surrounded by the peaceful atmosphere and sounds of the jungle.
